All children from Year 1 to Year 6 work their way through the Spelling Shed programme which is aligned to the English National Curriculum. This incorporates the Common Exception Words for each phase as well as teaching spelling patterns. Lessons include phonics activities, exploring word origins, discussing the meaning of prefixes and suffixes and giving children a bank of strategies to enable them to commit spellings to their long-term memories. Children in Key Stage 2 have a weekly spelling test.
SNIP is used as a spelling intervention.
