As part of your child's educational experience at Radbrook Primary School we aim to promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive programme of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education that gives children the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive and fun filled lives, both now and in the future.
As you may already be aware, the Department for Education has announced changes to Relationships and Sex Education following a nationwide consultation. These changes came into effect in Sept 2020 and schools were required to comply with these changes by the Summer Term 21, which we have. Consequently, from September 2020 Relationships Education and Health Education have become statutory (must be taught to all) as they are part of the National Curriculum. In light of this, we have been reviewing our policy and curriculum to make sure it is appropriate for our pupils.
You as parents are part of this process. Below is our proposed PSHE and RSE policy as well as two PowerPoints that explain how we teach PSHE and RSE at Radbrook. I have talked over the PowerPoint to help explain certain things in more detail. I have also added in my email (at the end of the PowerPoint) to gather any views/opinions, thoughts and questions in regard to how our PSHE and RSE curriculum is taught.
Thank you for your continued support.
