School Weather Closure Procedures

 

 

Emergency Closure including Winter Weather Policy

 


 

In response to difficult conditions:

 

The CEO will decide, in light of the particular circumstances prevailing in the local area, whether or not a closure of a school is necessary, as a result of; (i) damage to the school buildings, (ii) loss of utility supply, (iii) difficulty in accessing the site and/or buildings safely.

 If under the circumstances the CEO concludes that a school cannot open:

  • Closure decisions will be immediately reported to Shropshire Council by the CEO after consultation with school.
  • All major radio stations that serve Shropshire will be informed by Shropshire Council that the school(s) is closed and they will broadcast this information at regular intervals
  • The school will inform parents via normal communication channels - text message and/or email, website, social media
     
    The school will reopen as soon as it is possible to do so. This will be communicated to parents via normal communication channels - app message and/or email, website, social media.
